Questions and answers about Kinder Karex

Our enamel is made up almost exclusively of hydroxyapatite. Therefore, hydroxyapatite is used as a biomimetic agent in oral care. Many studies prove the benefit of hydroxyapatite in oral care/prophylaxis. This is why BioHAP (biomimetic hydroxyapatite) is used as an active substance in dental hygiene. The highly concentrated substance is also a source of calcium and protects our teeth from bacterial acids.

Especially for children under the age of 6, the addition of fluoride to toothpaste is a subject of much debate. Children in particular swallow a lot of the toothpaste. However, the intake of other sources of fluoride (vitamin D preparations with fluoride, fluoride salt etc.) considerably increases the risk of fluorosis (discoloration of the teeth due to an elevated intake of fluoride). The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment states that when children's toothpaste containing 500 ppm fluoride is swallowed this results in the same intake of fluoride as, for example, from fluoride salt. Based on the new recommendations, the amount of fluoride swallowed can be doubled. In the case of toothpastes with a higher fluoride level (as of 1000 ppm), the risk of fluorosis is even greater.

Kinder Karex Toothpaste uses the tooth-like active ingredient hydroxyapatite. When swallowed, it simply dissolves in the stomach.

Numerous studies have confirmed the efficacy of hydroxyapatite: This substance repairs enamel every time the teeth are brushed, minimises the build-up of bacteria and thus provides effective protection against caries.

Many publications confirm the efficacy. In addition to laboratory studies (in vitro), these include studies with test specimens under oral cavity conditions (in situ) as well as clinical studies on patients (in vivo) in particular.

You can get an overview of the large number of studies on hydroxyapatite by looking at our study database (registration not necessary).

Kinder Karex is suitable for babies as soon as the first tooth appears. The toothlike active ingredient hydroxyapatite also makes the toothpaste suitable for children from the age of 0 who are not yet able to spit out toothpaste properly. Infants, children and adolescents can use Kinder Karex to effectively protect their teeth from caries. The taste was chosen by children for children.

Around 97% of our enamel and about 70% of our dentine are made of hydroxyapatite. Enamel forms a protective outer layer for our teeth. Bacteria adhere to the enamel, producing harmful acids with the help of sugar from our food. These acids dissolve the enamel, resulting in caries.

Kinder Karex Toothpaste contains the toothlike active ingredient hydroxyapatite, which adheres to the tooth during brushing. Brushing the teeth every day with the active ingredient hydroxyapatite can repair even small defects in the enamel and a protective layer is formed on the tooth. This protective layer makes it harder for bacteria to adhere to the teeth. Kinder Karex with hydroxyapatite thus offers effective protection against caries.

Kinder Karex Toothpaste is also suitable for electric toothbrushes. Kinder Karex Toothpaste is easy to dispense and can also be used on smaller toothbrush heads.

When developing Kinder Karex Toothpaste, special care was taken to only use the ingredients that are necessary. Kinder Karex Toothpaste contains hydroxyapatite as its main ingredient and it is free from fluoride, parabens and sodium lauryl sulphate.

Kinder Karex contains xylitol. Xylitol also helps to prevent caries.

The active substance BioHAP contained in Kinder Karex releases calcium to combat (bacterial) acid attacks. This protects the teeth from demineralisation and promotes remineralisation (replenishment of calcium and phosphate).

The aroma contains very small amounts of menthol and eucalyptol. Please take this into account if your child is undergoing homeopathic treatment.

No. Kinder Karex does not contain any gluten and can be used with gluten intolerances.

No, Kinder Karex does not contain nanoparticles.

Kinder Karex Toothpaste does not contain any animal substances and is therefore also suitable for vegans.
