                JUNIOR KAREX is the ideal toothpaste for the daily brushing of the first permanent teeth: By repairing tooth enamel, it effectively protects against cavities and also helps with chalky teeth (MIH) – with BioHAP instead of fluoride.

                Chalk teeth (MIH) are a completely new challenge that many parents and dentists are facing. The molars ("M") and incisors ("I") are not sufficiently developed ("Hypomineralization"). According to current figures, over 30% of 12-year-olds show this condition of porous teeth.

                Unlike healthy permanent teeth, chalk teeth are not fully mineralized. Normally, tooth enamel consists of approximately 97% Hydroxyapatite — a calcium-containing compound. This Hydroxyapatite is already formed while the teeth are not yet visible in the oral cavity. Many different proteins are responsible for the formation of healthy, hard tooth enamel, and these proteins do not function properly in chalk teeth.

                Fluoride is a widely distributed mineral that we absorb through food and water. It is not an essential nutrient; while it protects against cavities, an overdose can quickly lead to fluorosis or other health problems.

                Fluoride is omnipresent in our daily livesᑎ: toothpaste, tea, fish with bones, fluoridated salt, seafood, mineral water, grain products.

                The addition of fluoride in toothpaste is particularly controversial for children under 6 years of age. Children in particular swallow a large portion of their toothpaste.

                The uncontrollable swallowing of fluoride toothpaste can be particularly harmful to children. Therefore, the common recommendation is to use a rice grain-sized amount of toothpaste.

                An overdose can cause fluorosis.

                The use of fluoride in toothpaste is particularly controversial for children under 6 years of age. Children in particular swallow a large portion of the toothpaste.

                Due to the intake of additional sources of fluoride (vitamin D supplements with fluoride, fluoridated salt, etc.), the risk of developing fluorosis (white spots on the teeth caused by increased fluoride intake) increases significantly. For example, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment points out that if a children’s toothpaste with 500 ppm fluoride is swallowed, just as much fluoride is ingested as, for instance, through fluoridated salt.

                According to the new recommendations, the amount of swallowed fluoride can therefore double. The risk of fluorosis is significantly higher with toothpastes that have a higher fluoride content (from 1000 ppm).

                JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste is recommended for all children from 6 years of age. The formula and mint flavor are optimally tailored to this age group’s preferences for a toothpaste and to the specific needs of the mixed dentition.

                During the phase of tooth transition, the so-called mixed dentition consists of primary and permanent teeth. Both have different characteristics:

                • Teeth and dentition: primary teeth have thinner enamel, are more sensitive, and require gentle cleaning. Permanent teeth are larger and often closer together. In addition, the grooves (fissures) on the chewing surface of permanent molars are deeper. Therefore, permanent teeth have an increased risk of cavities. Dental plaque must be removed gently and effectively.
                • Fixed braces: plaque forms around the brackets and often cannot be completely removed. JUNIOR KAREX with the active ingredient BioHAP and additional calcium sources also protects hard-to-reach areas from cavity-causing bacteria and harmful acids, thus helping to prevent cavities.
                • Gums: when wearing brackets and during tooth eruption, the gums of children and adolescents can be irritated, reddened, and partially inflamed. The formulation with allantoin soothes and protects irritated gums.

                About 97% of our enamel and approx. 70% of our dentin consists of Hydroxyapatite. Enamel forms the outer protective layer of the teeth. Bacteria adhere to the enamel and, with the help of sugar from food, produce harmful acids. These acids dissolve the enamel: cavities develop.

                JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste contains the tooth-related active ingredient Hydroxyapatite, which deposits on the tooth while brushing. With daily brushing, even small defects in the enamel can be repaired by the active ingredient Hydroxyapatite, and a protective layer can be formed on the tooth. This protective layer makes it more difficult for bacteria to adhere to the tooth. JUNIOR KAREX with Hydroxyapatite thus provides effective protection against cavities.

                During the development of JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste, special care was taken to use only the necessary ingredients. JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste contains Hydroxyapatite as the main active ingredient and is free from fluoride and free from sodium lauryl sulfate.

                JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste contains xylitol. Xylitol additionally helps to prevent cavities.

                The active ingredient BioHAP contained in JUNIOR KAREX releases calcium during (bacterial) acid attacks. This protects the teeth from demineralization and supports remineralization (the re-incorporation of calcium and phosphate).

                KINDER KAREX Toothpaste is specially developed for sensitive primary teeth. It provides gentle cleaning and effective cavity protection with BioHAP. Due to its mild formulation and child-friendly flavor, it is suitable from the eruption of the first tooth and is harmless even if swallowed. After all, children can only reliably spit out toothpaste once they reach elementary school age.

                JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste has been developed for the different oral care needs of primary teeth (very thin, sensitive enamel) and permanent teeth (increased plaque formation, especially when wearing fixed braces). The flavor has also been specially selected for older children. JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste reliably removes plaque without attacking the enamel, additional calcium sources support natural remineralization and buffer acid attacks. This helps prevent cavities. Allantoin soothes stressed gums during tooth eruption and while wearing brackets (fixed braces).

                The flavor contains very small amounts of menthol and eucalyptol. Please take this into account if your child is receiving homeopathic treatment.

                Unfortunately, researchers and dentists are in the dark when it comes to the exact cause of chalk teeth in children. Plasticizers in plastic are frequently cited as a cause of chalk teeth. However, infectious diseases, upper respiratory tract infections, medications such as antibiotics are also considered. Environmental toxins are also not ruled out as a cause of chalk teeth.

                Chalk teeth are uncomfortable and often painful for children. Depending on the severity, it is decided whether the teeth should be preserved, restored, or extracted. Dentists frequently apply high-concentration fluoride varnish, which is meant to protect against cavities but does not repair chalk teeth. Toothpaste with BioHAP, on the other hand, replenishes the calcium deficit and forms a protective layer of Hydroxyapatite. This not only protects chalk teeth from cavities but also reduces their sensitivity to pain.
