    The addition of fluoride in toothpaste is particularly controversial for children under 6 years of age. Children in particular swallow a large portion of their toothpaste.

    Risk-free dosage

    The uncontrollable swallowing of fluoride toothpaste can be particularly harmful to children. Therefore, the common recommendation is to use a rice grain-sized amount of toothpaste.

                The use of fluoride in toothpaste is particularly controversial for children under 6 years of age. Children in particular swallow a large portion of the toothpaste.

                Due to the intake of additional sources of fluoride (vitamin D supplements with fluoride, fluoridated salt, etc.), the risk of developing fluorosis (white spots on the teeth caused by increased fluoride intake) increases significantly. For example, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment points out that if a children’s toothpaste with 500 ppm fluoride is swallowed, just as much fluoride is ingested as, for instance, through fluoridated salt.

                According to the new recommendations, the amount of swallowed fluoride can therefore double. The risk of fluorosis is significantly higher with toothpastes that have a higher fluoride content (from 1000 ppm).

                KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is a highly concentrated gel with biomimetic Hydroxyapatite (BioHAP) and calcium to support and complement daily oral care for children and adults. Hydroxyapatite consists of the minerals calcium and phosphate and is the main component of our teeth.

                KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is suitable for children and adults from the eruption of the first tooth.

                For optimal effectiveness, KAREX Tooth Protection Gel should be applied once daily after toothbrushing using a finger or a soft toothbrush to all tooth surfaces (apply only, do not brush) and then spread with the tongue. Application can be made easier by placing several small amounts of the gel on the finger/toothbrush and distributing it in the mouth.

                Ideally, KAREX Tooth Protection Gel should be used in the evening after brushing your teeth. After application, we recommend not rinsing your mouth. This allows the gel to work particularly well overnight.

                Swallowing KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is harmless. Due to its similarity to the body’s own tooth mineral, the active ingredient BioHAP dissolves in the stomach when swallowed and is therefore absolutely safe.

                KAREX Tooth Protection Gel contains various active ingredients. The combination of these ingredients helps prevent cavities, repairs and strengthens tooth enamel, protects against cavity-causing acids, and reduces tooth sensitivity, e.g. in the case of chalky teeth (MIH).

                • BioHAP acts as a mineral depot. It remineralizes the enamel and repairs micro-fine defects that can lead to cavities. In this way, cavities are stopped at an early stage.
                • The highly concentrated active ingredient BioHAP forms a protective layer on the teeth. This makes it more difficult for bacteria to adhere and protects the teeth from acids.
                • Additional calcium helps prevent cavities and at the same time supports the remineralization of the enamel structure.
                • BioHAP and calcium also deposit missing minerals in chalky teeth (MIH), thereby reducing sensitivity and helping to prevent a tendency to develop cavities.
                • BioHAP also reaches areas that a toothbrush cannot easily reach (interdental spaces, areas around brackets with fixed braces). If dental plaque forms there, BioHAP protects the tooth from cavity-causing acids.

                KAREX Tooth Protection Gel was developed for everyone – children and adults – who value preserving and protecting their teeth and who want to do more for cavity prevention in addition to toothbrushing.

                In addition, we recommend using the Tooth Protection Gel for:

                • Patients with initial caries (early-stage caries with demineralization of the outer enamel layer) and a high risk of caries: mineral loss is compensated and the progression of caries is prevented.
                • Children with chalky teeth (MIH): chalky teeth contain less calcium than healthy teeth. KAREX Tooth Protection Gel provides calcium and supports the remineralization of the enamel structure.
                • Orthodontic treatments with fixed braces: demineralization is prevented and bacterial acids are buffered.
                • Patients after periodontitis treatments, bleaching, or professional dental cleanings that lead to tooth sensitivity. Exposed tooth necks are covered and protected with BioHAP. Tooth sensitivity is reduced.

                KAREX Tooth Protection Gel has a pleasantly mild citrus-mint flavor. Ideal for daily use.

                KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. In addition, the gel is free from gluten and lactose. The flavor contains small amounts of menthol.

                The consistency of KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is based on the main active ingredient BioHAP (biomimetic Hydroxyapatite). Hydroxyapatite is the main component of our teeth. That is why KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is white.

                The consistency of the gel has been specially developed to ensure optimal adhesion of the active ingredients (Hydroxyapatite, calcium, xylitol) to the teeth. This promotes the remineralization of the teeth, improves cavity protection, and reduces unpleasant sensitivity, e.g. in the case of chalky teeth (MIH) and dentin hypersensitivity.                 Yes, KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The product does not contain alcohol or any other concerning ingredients.

                Due to its gentle formulation and neutral pH value, KAREX Tooth Protection Gel can also be used on crowns, bridges, inlays, or implant-supported dentures as well as on other restorations (e.g. gold crowns).

                Since 2015, the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) has been investigating the effects of fluoride on neurotoxicity and endocrine disruption. The brain responds sensitively at 1–2 mg/l, the thyroid gland at 2–4 mg/l.ᑎ

                The correct toothpaste dosage not only protects against cavities but also prevents fluoride overdose. The official recommendation for fluoride toothpaste is: pea-sized. Studies show that parents use significantly more toothpaste.ᐳ

                Fluoroses are unsightly white spots on the teeth that are caused by excessive fluoride intake and remain for a lifetime.

                While most children's toothpastes contain fluoride, KAREX toothpaste offers a modern alternative with BioHAP. This nature-inspired active ingredient works without fluoride and reduces the risk of fluorosis.

                Application can be simplified by applying smaller amounts of the KAREX Tooth Protection Gel to the toothbrush/finger several times and distributing it in the mouth.

                Leave on overnight. Please note: The gel does not replace daily tooth brushing, but is to be used in addition to it.

                During bacterial acid attacks, BioHAP releases calcium, which maintains the healthy mineralization of the enamel and reduces the tooth-damaging acidic pH value in the oral cavity.

                The bacteria in the oral cavity are bound by BioHAP and prevented from forming a biofilm on the teeth – but not killed.
