                FAQFAQ: KINDER KAREX Toothpaste

KINDER KAREX is suitable for babies from the first tooth. Thanks to the tooth-related active ingredient Hydroxyapatite (BioHAP), the toothpaste is suitable for all young children from 0 years of age who are not yet able to spit properly. Babies and young children can effectively protect their teeth against cavities with KINDER KAREX. The flavor has been chosen by children for children.

About 97% of our tooth enamel and around 70% of our dentin consist of Hydroxyapatite. Tooth enamel forms the outer protective layer of the teeth. Bacteria attach to the enamel and, with the help of sugar from food, produce harmful acids. These acids dissolve the enamel, and cavities develop.

KINDER KAREX Toothpaste contains the tooth-related active ingredient Hydroxyapatite, which adheres to the tooth while brushing. With daily brushing, even small defects in the enamel can be repaired by the active ingredient Hydroxyapatite, and a protective layer can form on the tooth. This protective layer makes it more difficult for bacteria to adhere to the tooth. KINDER KAREX with Hydroxyapatite thus provides effective protection against cavities.

KINDER KAREX Toothpaste is also suitable for electric toothbrushes. KINDER KAREX Toothpaste is easy to dose and can be applied well even on smaller brush heads.

During the development of KINDER KAREX Toothpaste, special care was taken to use only the necessary ingredients. KINDER KAREX Toothpaste contains Hydroxyapatite as its main active ingredient and is free from fluoride and free from sodium lauryl sulfate.

KINDER KAREX contains xylitol. Xylitol also helps to prevent cavities.

The active ingredient BioHAP contained in KINDER KAREX releases calcium during (bacterial) acid attacks. This protects the teeth against demineralization and supports remineralization (the re-deposition of calcium and phosphate).

The flavor contains very small amounts of menthol and eucalyptol. Please take this into account if your child is receiving homeopathic treatment.

No. KINDER KAREX does not contain wheat and can be used in cases of gluten intolerance.

No, KINDER KAREX Toothpaste does not contain nanoparticles.

KINDER KAREX does not contain any animal-derived ingredients and is therefore also suitable for vegans.

No, KINDER KAREX Toothpaste does not contain titanium dioxide.

                FAQFAQ: JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste

JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste is recommended for all children from 6 years of age. The formula and mint flavor are optimally tailored to this age group’s preferences for a toothpaste and to the specific needs of the mixed dentition.

During the phase of tooth transition, the so-called mixed dentition consists of primary and permanent teeth. Both have different characteristics:

                • Teeth and dentition: primary teeth have thinner enamel, are more sensitive, and require gentle cleaning. Permanent teeth are larger and often closer together. In addition, the grooves (fissures) on the chewing surface of permanent molars are deeper. Therefore, permanent teeth have an increased risk of cavities. Dental plaque must be removed gently and effectively.
                • Fixed braces: plaque forms around the brackets and often cannot be completely removed. JUNIOR KAREX with the active ingredient BioHAP and additional calcium sources also protects hard-to-reach areas from cavity-causing bacteria and harmful acids, thus helping to prevent cavities.
                • Gums: when wearing brackets and during tooth eruption, the gums of children and adolescents can be irritated, reddened, and partially inflamed. The formulation with allantoin soothes and protects irritated gums.

About 97% of our enamel and approx. 70% of our dentin consists of Hydroxyapatite. Enamel forms the outer protective layer of the teeth. Bacteria adhere to the enamel and, with the help of sugar from food, produce harmful acids. These acids dissolve the enamel: cavities develop.

JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste contains the tooth-related active ingredient Hydroxyapatite, which deposits on the tooth while brushing. With daily brushing, even small defects in the enamel can be repaired by the active ingredient Hydroxyapatite, and a protective layer can be formed on the tooth. This protective layer makes it more difficult for bacteria to adhere to the tooth. JUNIOR KAREX with Hydroxyapatite thus provides effective protection against cavities.

During the development of JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste, special care was taken to use only the necessary ingredients. JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste contains Hydroxyapatite as the main active ingredient and is free from fluoride and free from sodium lauryl sulfate.

JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste contains xylitol. Xylitol additionally helps to prevent cavities.

The active ingredient BioHAP contained in JUNIOR KAREX releases calcium during (bacterial) acid attacks. This protects the teeth from demineralization and supports remineralization (the re-incorporation of calcium and phosphate).

KINDER KAREX Toothpaste is specially developed for sensitive primary teeth. It provides gentle cleaning and effective cavity protection with BioHAP. Due to its mild formulation and child-friendly flavor, it is suitable from the eruption of the first tooth and is harmless even if swallowed. After all, children can only reliably spit out toothpaste once they reach elementary school age.

JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste has been developed for the different oral care needs of primary teeth (very thin, sensitive enamel) and permanent teeth (increased plaque formation, especially when wearing fixed braces). The flavor has also been specially selected for older children. JUNIOR KAREX Toothpaste reliably removes plaque without attacking the enamel, additional calcium sources support natural remineralization and buffer acid attacks. This helps prevent cavities. Allantoin soothes stressed gums during tooth eruption and while wearing brackets (fixed braces).

The flavor contains very small amounts of menthol and eucalyptol. Please take this into account if your child is receiving homeopathic treatment.

                FAQFAQ: BABY KAREX Toothpaste

Effective cavity protection is important from the very first tooth. However, babies and toddlers swallow almost all of the toothpaste while brushing, as they are not yet able to spit at that age.

BABY KAREX Toothpaste is the ideal introduction to daily toothbrushing. From the first tooth, it gently cleans and at the same time provides effective protection against cavities – with BioHAP, without fluoride.

The BABY KAREX formula contains only the most essential ingredients and completely avoids fluoride, surfactants, and flavorings, and is harmless if swallowed.

BABY KAREX Toothpaste can be used without hesitation from the very first tooth. It contains only the most essential ingredients, is completely free from fluoride, surfactants, and flavorings, and is therefore harmless even if swallowed.
BABY KAREX provides effective protection against cavities while being fluoride-free. Therefore, unlike other children's toothpastes, it is not subject to any dosage restrictions, which makes the daily toothbrushing routine with your child easier.

BABY KAREX Toothpaste has been specially developed as an introduction to the toothbrushing routine. From the very first tooth, it gently cleans and at the same time provides effective protection against cavities – with BioHAP and without fluoride. In addition, the BABY KAREX formula contains only the most essential ingredients and completely avoids surfactants and flavorings in order to protect the sensitive oral cavity of the little ones. The taste is pleasantly mild and tailored to babies’ flavor preferences. We recommend BABY KAREX Toothpaste for ages 0–2 years.

KINDER KAREX Toothpaste has been developed for the care of sensitive milk teeth. It offers effective cavity protection with BioHAP, without fluoride. KINDER KAREX remineralizes the teeth and minimizes bacterial adhesion. The fluoride-free formula reduces the risk of fluorosis. The mild flavor is popular with children. We recommend KINDER KAREX Toothpaste up to 6 years of age as a follow-up product to BABY KAREX. However, it can also be used without hesitation for babies from 0 years of age.

The use of fluoride in toothpaste is particularly controversial for children under 6 years of age. Children in particular swallow a large portion of the toothpaste. Due to the intake of additional sources of fluoride (vitamin D supplements with fluoride, fluoridated salt, etc.), the risk of fluorosis (discoloration of the teeth caused by increased fluoride intake) increases significantly. For example, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment points out that if a children’s toothpaste with 500 ppm fluoride is swallowed, just as much fluoride is ingested as, for instance, through fluoridated salt. According to the new recommendations, the amount of swallowed fluoride can therefore double. The risk of fluorosis is significantly higher with toothpastes that have a higher fluoride content (from 1000 ppm).

BABY KAREX Toothpaste relies on the tooth-related active ingredient Hydroxyapatite. When swallowed, it is simply dissolved in the stomach.
Numerous studies confirm its effectiveness: Hydroxyapatite repairs enamel with every brushing, reduces bacterial adhesion, and thus provides effective protection against cavities.

Numerous publications confirm the effectiveness of BioHAP in dental care. These include not only laboratory studies (in vitro) but also studies with test specimens under oral cavity conditions (in situ), as well as, in particular, clinical studies on patients (in vivo).
For more information, feel free to read the German short summary or the original study. You can get an overview of the large number of studies on Hydroxyapatite as an active ingredient in dental care by browsing (usable without registration).

                FAQFAQ: KAREX Tooth Protection Gel

KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is a highly concentrated gel with biomimetic Hydroxyapatite (BioHAP) and calcium to support and complement daily oral care for children and adults. Hydroxyapatite consists of the minerals calcium and phosphate and is the main component of our teeth.

KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is suitable for children and adults from the eruption of the first tooth.

For optimal effectiveness, KAREX Tooth Protection Gel should be applied once daily after toothbrushing using a finger or a soft toothbrush to all tooth surfaces (apply only, do not brush) and then spread with the tongue. Application can be made easier by placing several small amounts of the gel on the finger/toothbrush and distributing it in the mouth.

Ideally, KAREX Tooth Protection Gel should be used in the evening after brushing your teeth. After application, we recommend not rinsing your mouth. This allows the gel to work particularly well overnight.

Swallowing KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is harmless. Due to its similarity to the body’s own tooth mineral, the active ingredient BioHAP dissolves in the stomach when swallowed and is therefore absolutely safe.

KAREX Tooth Protection Gel contains various active ingredients. The combination of these ingredients helps prevent cavities, repairs and strengthens tooth enamel, protects against cavity-causing acids, and reduces tooth sensitivity, e.g. in the case of chalky teeth (MIH).

                • BioHAP acts as a mineral depot. It remineralizes the enamel and repairs micro-fine defects that can lead to cavities. In this way, cavities are stopped at an early stage.
                • The highly concentrated active ingredient BioHAP forms a protective layer on the teeth. This makes it more difficult for bacteria to adhere and protects the teeth from acids.
                • Additional calcium helps prevent cavities and at the same time supports the remineralization of the enamel structure.
                • BioHAP and calcium also deposit missing minerals in chalky teeth (MIH), thereby reducing sensitivity and helping to prevent a tendency to develop cavities.
                • BioHAP also reaches areas that a toothbrush cannot easily reach (interdental spaces, areas around brackets with fixed braces). If dental plaque forms there, BioHAP protects the tooth from cavity-causing acids.

KAREX Tooth Protection Gel was developed for everyone – children and adults – who value preserving and protecting their teeth and who want to do more for cavity prevention in addition to toothbrushing.

In addition, we recommend using the Tooth Protection Gel for:

                • Patients with initial caries (early-stage caries with demineralization of the outer enamel layer) and a high risk of caries: mineral loss is compensated and the progression of caries is prevented.
                • Children with chalky teeth (MIH): chalky teeth contain less calcium than healthy teeth. KAREX Tooth Protection Gel provides calcium and supports the remineralization of the enamel structure.
                • Orthodontic treatments with fixed braces: demineralization is prevented and bacterial acids are buffered.
                • Patients after periodontitis treatments, bleaching, or professional dental cleanings that lead to tooth sensitivity. Exposed tooth necks are covered and protected with BioHAP. Tooth sensitivity is reduced.

KAREX Tooth Protection Gel has a pleasantly mild citrus-mint flavor. Ideal for daily use.

KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. In addition, the gel is free from gluten and lactose. The flavor contains small amounts of menthol.

The consistency of KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is based on the main active ingredient BioHAP (biomimetic Hydroxyapatite). Hydroxyapatite is the main component of our teeth. That is why KAREX Tooth Protection Gel is white.

The consistency of the gel has been specially developed to ensure optimal adhesion of the active ingredients (Hydroxyapatite, calcium, xylitol) to the teeth. This promotes the remineralization of the teeth, improves cavity protection, and reduces unpleasant sensitivity, e.g. in the case of chalky teeth (MIH) and dentin hypersensitivity. The formation of a protective layer with BioHAP also makes the teeth appear brighter.

KAREX Tooth Protection Gel can be combined with all other oral care products. In general, we recommend a toothpaste with BioHAP for daily oral care. However, KAREX Tooth Protection Gel can also be combined with other toothpastes.

Fluorides are an ingredient in many toothpastes and mouthwashes because they have been proven to protect against cavities. However, a large number of scientific studies indicate that fluorides can have a negative effect on the child if too much is ingested during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding (LINK to study). Therefore, fluoride intake should be minimized during this time.

The active ingredient BioHAP in MAMA KAREX is at least as effective as fluoride in cavity prevention. In addition, BioHAP* has a positive effect on gum health and is harmless if swallowed. Therefore, MAMA KAREX Toothpaste is the ideal alternative to fluoride-containing toothpastes during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding.

Due to its gentle formulation and neutral pH value, KAREX Tooth Protection Gel can also be used on crowns, bridges, inlays, or implant-supported dentures as well as on other restorations (e.g. gold crowns).

Due to hormonal changes, teeth and gums can become sensitive during pregnancy. In addition, there is an increased risk of cavities. Since increased fluoride intake during pregnancy and breastfeeding can have a negative effect on the child, it makes sense to avoid fluoride in dental care during this time.

MAMA KAREX Toothpaste is the ideal toothpaste for expectant or breastfeeding mothers. It works effectively against cavities and protects sensitive gums with BioHAP – without fluoride.
